Moving to Colorado I thought that I would get ample opportunities to sled... however, this winter has proven very different. Finally, last night we went sledding!
We were armed with sleds, hard packed snow, and previously built ramps that launched us into pure reckless abandon. (Reckless might be a little strong, but you should have seen some of these ramps!). But the thought hit me last night... do I bail too quickly?
See, on one of these hills at the very bottom there is a large chain link fence, that threatens to harm you with every ounce of its being! I was warned to bail off one's sled when it is approaching the fence. The first time going down, I think I bailed about 25ft away from that thing. I had to laugh at myself because I was not even close and just missed out on several more feet of pure sledding bliss. So with each run down the slope, I got closer and closer to that terrorist of a fence, but never hit it. But just knowing that the fence was there ready to get me, made going down that hill even more thrilling. It provided a greater risk, which in turn provided a greater reward!
Sometimes I "bail" from
things too soon because I am afraid that the risk is not worth it. But if I let myself get closer, I realize that indeed that risk provides much more reward when there is success!

I like how you can have these experiences and relate them to something that applies to life. If that makes sense. :)
It's fun to know the exact hill and fence you're talking about :) Good post! No risk= no reward. Love you!
